Eating and food, specially eating insects is a point of view. While many people in the world just think it is disgusting to eat insects, for people in Asia insects are a delicacy. Some people call it weird food, but fried caterpillars, bamboo worms, silk worms, scorpions and so on, are a beloved snack in Asia.
A few nights ago a street vendor sold this juicy, fried silk worms (Bombyx mori) for just 20.- Thai Baht a bag and for sure the boys could not resist. Insects are highly nutritious and high in protein. The silk worms has been fried with pandanus (pandan) leaves and just before serving there is soy sauce sprinkled over the mouthwatering worms.
